Cleveland Guardians

Cleveland experienced a short-lived victory in Game One of their series vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers, but couldn't keep up the momentum for the final two games. The Guardians have been struggling lately, losing six of the previous eight games before beginning their series with the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend. They rank low in offense with an average of 4.00 runs per game (28th), hitting .249 (17th) and an OPS of .688 (27th). On the defensive side of things, Cleveland's pitching staff boasts a 3.80 ERA (4th) and a 1.28 WHIP (16th), with 47 quality starts (13th). Rookie southpaw Allen will take the mound for the Guardians on Saturday. For the 2021 season, they have a power rating of 18, and overall are 60-68 this season. Cleveland won Game One of their series against the Dodgers, but lost the following two games. They have a power rating of 18, and overall are 60-68 this season. Toronto Blue Jays Analysis

The Blue Jays' starter for Saturday will be veteran LHP Ryu who's made 4 appearances since coming back from the injured list in August. In his last 3 outings Ryu has gone scoreless with consecutive wins with Chicago getting 2 hits in 5 frames with Cincinnati getting 4 hits and 7 strikeouts in 5 frames. The Toronto Blue Jays are currently sitting at the 10th power ranking with a 70-58 overall record. Their offense is ranked 16th, averaging 4.46 runs per game and a .257 batting average with 148 home runs and 82 stolen bases. Their defense is ranked 1st, giving up an average of 4.00 points per game. They have dropped 2 of 3 in their last series with Baltimore and 5-5 in their last ten overall, leaving them 1.5 games out of the AL wild card spot. Saturday's game starter will be veteran left-hander Ryu, who has seen: 4 appearances since returning from the injured list in August 3 consecutive scoreless appearances 2 unearned runs against Chicago and Cincinnati. Toronto Must Prove Victorious in Matchup with Cleveland to Remain in Wild Card Contention

Toronto currently sits outside of a Wild Card spot and must achieve victory against teams they should beat, like Cleveland. The Guardians have been struggling at the plate in August (.225/.285/.331/.616) and will be facing a motivated Ryu who has been performing well since his return from the IL. Toronto's performance vs. southpaw pitchers this season is encouraging (.275/.347/.416/.763) and yields a favorable advantage when combined with their numbers in day games (.270/.348/.430/.778). Though Toronto earned a win previously against Cleveland with just one run, I also expect them to secure a victory for Ryu with a comfortable margin of victory. With this in mind, I believe the +120 line on the Jays covering is the best value.

Prediction on the total: OVER 8.5
