Delaware Blue Hens vs Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders Predictions October 13, 2026

Game time: October 13, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET

Venue: Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium — Murfreesboro, TN

Article updated Oct 12, 7:28 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Delaware will beat Middle Tennessee, 24-21, in our October 13 forecast. The Blue Hens’ stronger yardage profile and 16 sacks give them the edge, but quarterback Nick Minicucci’s recent injury absence makes that advantage fragile. Delaware -2.5 (-111) offers too little cushion for an actionable wager, and the total also remains a Pass. SportsJaw’s official betting recommendation is Pass.

Delaware Blue Hens vs Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders prediction and best bet

Pick Delaware to win a close game. Its offense produces more yards per game than Middle Tennessee’s, and its defense allows fewer. The Blue Hens also have a productive pass rush that could interrupt the Blue Raiders’ passing game. Together, those advantages favor Delaware in this 2026 college football matchup.

The betting decision is less convincing. Minicucci missed the Liberty game through injury, and his status for this matchup is unconfirmed. A three-point projected victory leaves Delaware only half a point above its -2.5 spread. With that narrow cushion and uncertainty at quarterback, the official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass.

Delaware Blue Hens outlook

Delaware averages 21.4 points and 359.8 total yards per game. Minicucci has contributed 838 passing yards and five touchdown passes this season. His recent absence is the central personnel concern because the forecast must leave room for an offense operating without that production at quarterback.

Sean Wilson has 21 receptions for 304 yards and three touchdowns. Delaware’s October 10 preview listed him tied for fourth in Conference USA in receiving touchdowns. Jo Silver has added 211 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Wilson’s scoring production gives Delaware a receiving threat, although those individual totals alone offer no assurance of consistent drives.

Defensively, the Blue Hens allow 25.6 points and 389.6 yards per game. Their standout number is 16 sacks through five games. At the time of the October 10 preview, that total was tied for 11th nationally and led Conference USA by one. Pressure is a credible reason to favor Delaware, but its overall defensive allowances still leave room for a competitive game.

Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders outlook

Roman Gagliano has completed 88 of 156 passes for 913 yards and eight touchdowns. Cam'Ron Lacy has 335 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while Antonio Martin has rushed for 385 yards and one score. Martin’s production offers a potential way to keep Delaware’s pass rush from becoming the defining feature of every possession.

Middle Tennessee averages 20.8 points and 306.6 yards per game. The scoring average is close to Delaware’s despite a larger gap in yardage, which is a reason to resist turning the Blue Hens’ statistical advantages into a comfortable winning margin.

The Blue Raiders allow 28.0 points and 420.6 yards per game. Those defensive figures make it difficult to trust the home underdog simply because Delaware has quarterback uncertainty. The 55-0 Kansas defeat adds concern, but one result should not dictate the expected margin against a different opponent.

Key matchup factors

Delaware’s offensive yardage advantage is 53.2 yards per game, while its defense allows 31.0 fewer yards per game. That creates a consistent directional case for the Blue Hens. The scoring gap is much smaller, however, so the yardage comparison points more convincingly toward the winner than toward a spread bet.

The tactical question is whether Delaware can force passing situations that make its sack production matter. Martin gives Middle Tennessee a rushing option, and Gagliano’s eight touchdown passes show why the Blue Raiders remain a threat if they keep possessions moving. This is a matchup to watch, not a prediction of a specific sack total.

SportsJaw member picks favor Middle Tennessee +2.5 (-109) at 57 percent in the October 12 spread update. Qualified handicapper picks also favor that side at 55 percent. That agreement supplies a counterweight to Delaware’s statistical case; neither percentage is a team win probability.

Delaware Blue Hens vs Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Delaware -2.5 (-111) and Middle Tennessee +2.5 (-109). The projected three-point Delaware win would cover, but barely. A forecast that close to the line needs more certainty than Delaware’s quarterback situation offers.

Middle Tennessee has support from both SportsJaw members and qualified handicappers, yet its defensive allowances temper the appeal of taking the points. The competing cases are strong enough to keep this market off the betting card. Delaware remains the winner pick with low confidence.

Delaware Blue Hens vs Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 47.5 (-115) and Under 47.5 (-105). The projected 45 points sit below the line. The teams’ scoring averages sum to 42.2, while their points allowed averages sum to 53.6. Those are useful opposing reference points, rather than a complete scoring model.

SportsJaw member picks favor Under 47.5 (-105) at 51 percent in the October 12 update. Qualified handicapper picks favor Over 47.5 (-115) at 52 percent. Neither group shows a pronounced preference, and they disagree on direction. With Minicucci’s availability unsettled, the modest projected lean toward Under is insufficient for an official wager.

Delaware Blue Hens vs Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders projected score

Game forecast: Delaware Blue Hens 24, Middle Tenn. St. Blue Raiders 21. Delaware’s yardage advantages and pass rush earn the winner selection. The strongest counterargument is Minicucci’s recent injury absence, with Middle Tennessee’s offensive personnel offering a plausible route to an upset.

Confidence is low. The forecast narrowly favors a Delaware cover and a finish below the total, but neither margin represents a convincing betting edge at the supplied prices. Both markets are Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting recommendation is Pass.
