Elon Fighting Christians vs New Hampshire Wildcats Predictions October 3, 2026

Game time: October 3, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Venue: Wildcat Stadium (NH) — Durham, NH

Article updated Oct 1, 9:41 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Elon Fighting Christians will beat the New Hampshire Wildcats 27-17 in our October 3 forecast. McDowell-Moore’s productive rushing performance against Maine gives Elon an appealing matchup against a defense that just allowed 243 rushing yards. That advantage favors the visitors, but Elon -3.5 (-245) demands more certainty than this matchup offers. Neither the spread nor total earns an actionable recommendation; the official wager is Pass.

Elon Fighting Christians vs New Hampshire Wildcats prediction and best bet

Elon’s ground game is the strongest reason to favor the visitors. Kamerin McDowell-Moore rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns in the September 26 win over Maine. New Hampshire surrendered 243 rushing yards at Sacred Heart that day. Those performances suggest an opportunity for Elon, although different opponents make the comparison imperfect.

The broader results point in the same direction: Elon won 43-17, while New Hampshire lost 20-13. Still, the Wildcats have a productive runner of their own in Joquez Smith, and Elon is seeking its first victory at New Hampshire. The forecast is Elon 27, New Hampshire 17. The best betting decision is Pass, with the favorite’s expensive spread price tempering the appeal.

Elon Fighting Christians outlook

Elon’s September 26 performance offered several reasons for optimism beyond the final margin. McDowell-Moore gained his 126 yards on 14 carries, including a 55-yard touchdown. Elijah Guttman contributed 179 passing yards and a touchdown. For this forecast, that combination makes Elon appealing: the running game supplied an explosive score while the passing game also contributed a touchdown.

The defensive numbers were encouraging, too. Elon held Maine to 148 passing yards, recorded two sacks and eight quarterback hurries, and stopped all four of Maine’s fourth-down attempts. Those are useful signs for a matchup with a New Hampshire offense whose quarterback threw for 81 yards in its latest game. Pressure could become especially valuable if the Wildcats must chase a deficit.

Elon also blocked two punts against Maine. Those plays strengthened that victory, but projecting another pair would put too much weight on an exceptional special-teams result. The offensive matchup is a firmer foundation for the winner call.

A victory would give Elon its first 5-1 start since 2022. The obstacle is a venue where, according to its official preview, it has never won. That history warrants caution without outweighing the current results.

New Hampshire Wildcats outlook

New Hampshire’s rushing production is the strongest counterargument to the Elon forecast. Smith carried 18 times for 107 yards at Sacred Heart on September 26, his second game above 100 yards in the Wildcats’ past three outings. Myles Thomason added 74 yards on 11 carries, including a 49-yard touchdown. Both runners supplied something the Wildcats can build around.

The team’s season-high 181 rushing yards nevertheless produced only 13 points in a 20-13 defeat. Brooks Bentley completed 11 of 19 passes for 81 yards. That passing output leaves a clear concern if Elon scores early and forces New Hampshire to pursue points more urgently. A productive ground game helps, but the Wildcats need their possessions to finish with enough scoring.

Defensively, Sacred Heart’s 59 rushing attempts for 243 yards present a relevant concern against McDowell-Moore. The workload matters alongside the yardage: New Hampshire faced repeated rushing plays, rather than simply surrendering one isolated gain.

Trevor Barry made 16 tackles and Cohen Cook had 15 in that loss. Barry has reached double-digit tackles in four of five games. Those totals show substantial involvement, though they offer no assurance that New Hampshire will contain Elon’s rushing attack.

Key matchup factors

The central question is which team can turn rushing production into points. Elon paired its lead runner’s big afternoon with a passing touchdown and defensive disruption. New Hampshire’s strong rushing day ended in a seven-point loss. That contrast favors Elon, but it remains a comparison of individual games, not a complete measure of either offense.

New Hampshire’s route to an upset is to sustain drives and keep the game close enough to retain its rushing options. An early Elon lead would put greater pressure on Bentley’s passing contribution.

SportsJaw’s community spread leader was New Hampshire +3.5 (+144), updated September 30 at 12:30 UTC. That community preference concerns the spread; it is neither a sportsbook betting split nor a probability of New Hampshire winning.

Elon Fighting Christians vs New Hampshire Wildcats spread prediction

The projected 10-point Elon victory favors the visitors against 3.5 points, but the -245 price requires approximately a 71% cover rate to break even. A score forecast is not a measured cover probability, and this matchup leaves meaningful uncertainty around that demanding threshold.

New Hampshire +3.5 (+144) offers the larger return, but its recent run defense makes backing the underdog uncomfortable. The community preference alone is insufficient reason to select it. Spread recommendation: Pass on Elon Fighting Christians -3.5 (-245) and New Hampshire Wildcats +3.5 (+144).

Elon Fighting Christians vs New Hampshire Wildcats total prediction

Our 44-point projection falls just below 44.5, giving the score forecast a slight Under tilt. New Hampshire’s 13-point showing and limited passing production support a restrained scoring expectation. A successful rushing approach could also consume time, although that depends on sustained drives.

The counterargument is Elon’s 43-point performance and the possibility of explosive runs or special-teams plays accelerating scoring. A half-point difference offers little cushion against those outcomes. Total recommendation: Pass on Over 44.5 (-114) and Under 44.5 (-116). Neither price makes the competing scoring possibilities attractive enough.

Elon Fighting Christians vs New Hampshire Wildcats projected score

The forecast is Elon Fighting Christians 27, New Hampshire Wildcats 17, with low confidence. Elon’s recent rushing success against New Hampshire’s latest defensive performance supplies the clearest matchup advantage. Guttman’s passing contribution and the pressure Elon generated against Maine add support.

New Hampshire’s strongest response is Smith’s recent production, supported by Thomason’s ability to deliver a long touchdown run. If that ground game sustains scoring drives, the Wildcats could make this much closer than projected. Elon’s search for its first win at this venue adds caution.

Elon remains the winner selection. The spread’s heavy favorite price and the total’s proximity to the projection leave the single official SportsJaw wager as Pass.
