Buffalo Bulls vs Miami-OH RedHawks Betting Picks & Predictions

Game time: November 3, 2026 at 8:00 PM ET

Venue: Yager Stadium — Oxford, OH

Article updated Nov 1, 12:53 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Miami-OH will beat Buffalo, with a projected score of Miami-OH 27, Buffalo 20. The RedHawks’ stronger season scoring average gives them the edge at home, but Messiah Burch’s rushing surge makes Buffalo a dangerous opponent. Neither Miami-OH -6.5 (-102) nor the 45.5 total offers enough value for an actionable wager. The official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass, with low forecast confidence.

Buffalo Bulls vs Miami-OH RedHawks prediction and best bet

Miami-OH gets the nod because its offense has scored 27.0 points per game through eight games, compared with Buffalo’s 22.6. That advantage matters in a matchup between teams carrying identical 5-3 records and three-game winning streaks. The RedHawks also get this meeting at Yager Stadium, where Buffalo has struggled historically.

The best bet is Pass. Buffalo’s current rushing production deserves more weight than its past trips to Oxford, and Miami has played enough close games to make laying nearly a touchdown uncomfortable. A Miami-OH 27, Buffalo 20 forecast narrowly favors the home side against the spread, but that half-point cushion is too small for a wager.

Buffalo Bulls outlook

Messiah Burch gives Buffalo its strongest argument for an upset. He has surpassed 100 rushing yards in five consecutive games, totaling 745 yards and averaging 149 over that stretch. His latest performance was his biggest: a career-best 184 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the October 24 victory over Bowling Green, 31-24.

That sustained production makes Burch more than a one-game concern for Miami. Buffalo can reasonably build its offensive plan around him, although rushing yardage alone does not tell us how much possession time the Bulls will control. Their season scoring average of 22.6 points remains a reason to temper expectations for another 31-point outing.

Buffalo’s defense has also changed games recently. It forced seven turnovers during the three-game winning streak after producing two in its first five games. Those seven came from three at Toledo and two apiece against UMass and Bowling Green. Another takeaway could be particularly valuable for an offense with the lower scoring average.

The Bulls have allowed only one individual 100-yard rusher this season: Penn State’s Quinton Martin finished with exactly 100 on September 19. That is encouraging, though it offers a narrower picture than a complete assessment of Buffalo’s run defense.

Miami-OH RedHawks outlook

Miami’s season scoring advantage is the clearest numerical reason to favor the RedHawks. They have accumulated 216 points in eight games, including 26 touchdowns and 11 field goals. The resulting 27.0-point average is 4.4 points higher than Buffalo’s. It is a useful starting point for the forecast, although these averages are not adjusted for opponents.

Caleb Heavner supplied both passing and rushing production in Miami’s 28-27 victory at Central Michigan on October 24. He threw for 221 yards and a touchdown and led the team with 58 rushing yards. Maleek Huggins caught seven passes for 122 yards, his second 100-yard receiving performance of 2026 after gaining 128 against Cincinnati. Scoop Smith averages 80 all-purpose yards per game, a broader measure than receiving production alone.

Quarterback depth is a concern. Miami says Thomas Gotkowski and David McComb will miss the remainder of the season. Gotkowski was injured in fall camp, while McComb was lost in the September 26 UConn game.

The RedHawks are 25-6 in their last 31 MAC games and have reached three straight conference title games. Still, five of their last six contests have reached the final drive. That recent pattern argues for a competitive finish more strongly than a comfortable margin.

Key matchup factors

The decisive question is whether Buffalo can turn Burch’s yardage into enough points to match Miami’s offense. A productive running game helps the Bulls, but their lower season scoring average keeps Miami ahead in the forecast. Buffalo’s recent takeaways introduce another swing factor: extra possessions could erase a modest offensive disadvantage.

History favors Miami, which leads the series 18-9 and won last season’s meeting 37-20. Buffalo is 3-11 at Yager Stadium and has not won there since 2015. Those results are background, not a forecast for these rosters.

SportsJaw’s combined moneyline consensus was evenly split on November 1 at 04:50 UTC. Its modeled equivalent sample showed 300 selections per side, 600 total. Those are not observed sportsbook ticket counts or win probabilities.

Buffalo Bulls vs Miami-OH RedHawks spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Miami-OH -6.5 (-102) and Buffalo +6.5 (-120). The projected seven-point Miami victory clears the favorite’s line by only half a point. Burch’s form and Miami’s recent close finishes leave too much room for a narrower result.

Buffalo’s price also matters. Taking +6.5 at -120 requires more than a plausible argument that the Bulls will stay competitive. Miami’s scoring advantage and Heavner’s latest performance are meaningful counterweights. Neither side offers a sufficiently convincing advantage at its supplied price.

Buffalo Bulls vs Miami-OH RedHawks total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 45.5 (-117) and Under 45.5 (-127). The forecast totals 47 points, giving the Over a slight directional lean. The teams’ scoring averages sum to 49.6, and both scored at least 28 in their October 24 wins.

Those figures are not an opponent-specific scoring projection. Burch-led possessions could reduce scoring opportunities if Buffalo sustains drives, while turnovers could either stop drives or create short fields. With only 1.5 points between the forecast and the line, neither the Over nor the more expensive Under earns a wager.

Buffalo Bulls vs Miami-OH RedHawks Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: Miami-OH 27, Buffalo 20. Miami’s higher season scoring average and Heavner’s recent contributions through the air and on the ground give the RedHawks the stronger winning case. Home field adds context without outweighing Buffalo’s current form.

Burch is the strongest counterargument. His five-game rushing stretch gives Buffalo a credible route to an upset, especially if the defense adds another takeaway. Miami’s quarterback absences and frequent final-drive games further limit confidence.

Confidence is low. The forecast calls for a Miami victory, but the margin is fragile and the total sits close to the supplied line. Both market recommendations remain Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
