Holy Cross vs. Miami-OH: Pass on the Spread and Total

Game setting and recent form

The Holy Cross Crusaders visit the Miami-OH RedHawks at Yager Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12, for a 1 p.m. kickoff on ESPN+. This 2026 college football matchup is Miami's home opener. The RedHawks enter 0-1, while the Crusaders are 0-2.

Miami's recent program record includes three consecutive appearances in the MAC championship game and five straight bowl appearances. However, those accomplishments do not establish how this roster will perform: Miami lists 55 newcomers among its 119 players.

According to The Miami Student, the RedHawks allowed 59 points at Pittsburgh and averaged 1.3 yards per carry across 21 rushing attempts. Quarterback David McComb completed 16 of 33 passes for 240 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Holy Cross began with matching 35-10 defeats against Lehigh and Colgate and is averaging 2.5 rushing yards per carry. Its passing production against Colgate offers a separate consideration. Holy Cross Athletics reports that David Lynch completed 19 of 35 attempts for 264 yards, with Ty Curran contributing seven catches for 130 yards.

Odds and betting assessment

Miami-OH is -7,000 on the moneyline and -30.5 (-110) against the spread. Holy Cross is +2,250 outright and +30.5 (-110). Both Over 50.5 (-110) and Under 50.5 (-110) are listed.

Those prices make Miami the market favorite, but favoritism alone does not establish a worthwhile bet. Miami's opening performance leaves uncertainty about backing it to cover such a large spread. Holy Cross's two defeats provide no convincing counterweight for taking the points.

The total also lacks a clear direction. Both teams have struggled to run, but Miami's points allowed and Holy Cross's passing output complicate an under recommendation. These limited results do not establish an edge on either side of 50.5.

Final decision

Pass. There is insufficient support for a betting recommendation or a projected score. No winner selection accompanies this assessment.
