Wofford Terriers vs Chattanooga Mocs Predictions

Kevin Lalin’s rushing production gives Chattanooga a reason for optimism, but both teams’ latest losses leave important questions unanswered.

Matchup and prices

Wofford visits Chattanooga at Finley Stadium on September 19, 2026, for a 6 p.m. kickoff in their Southern Conference football opener. Wofford enters 2-1 following a 36-15 loss at Kent State.

SportsJaw lists Wofford’s moneyline at -115 and Chattanooga’s at -111. The spread is Wofford -1.5 (-106) or Chattanooga +1.5 (-120). Both over 42.5 and under 42.5 are priced at -113. Those prices demand more than a preference between two teams coming off losses.

Reasons for caution on both sides

Wofford’s offensive output at Kent State is the clearest concern. FOX Carolina reports 173 total yards, 10 first downs and no conversions in 12 third-down attempts, with Kent State’s recap independently confirming that third-down result. Ethan Drumm and J.T. Fayard combined for 115 passing yards on 13 completions in 27 attempts.

Still, Wofford led 15-14 entering the fourth quarter before being outscored 22-0. The final margin should be read alongside that late collapse, rather than treated as evidence of a game-long mismatch.

Chattanooga’s Kevin Lalin leads the SoCon with 290 rushing yards this season, according to the school’s matchup announcement. That production supports optimism about his contribution, but does not establish an advantage against Wofford’s defense.

The Mocs lost 22-17 at Eastern Kentucky after holding a 17-16 lead. Coach Rusty Wright identified creating separation and finding open space as offensive priorities, and highlighted a conceded 96-yard rushing touchdown. Those concerns weaken the case for backing Chattanooga.

Betting decision

Pass. Wofford’s poor third-down performance and Lalin’s rushing total suggest questions worth watching, but neither establishes value at these prices. The available evidence also provides too little basis for projecting a total or exact score.
