Merrimack Warriors vs Tarleton St. Texans Predictions

Game time: September 19, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET

Article updated Sep 18, 2:58 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Tarleton’s offensive production supports its favorite status, but its latest defensive performance complicates the case for a comfortable cover.

The matchup and the price

The Merrimack Warriors visit the Tarleton State Texans at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville, Texas, on September 19 in the 2026 college football season. Tarleton enters 3-0 and is identified as fourth-ranked in the FCS by Merrimack’s game preview. Merrimack arrives at 1-2.

SportsJaw lists Tarleton at -10,000 on the moneyline and -33.5 (-115) against the spread. Merrimack is +1,700 on the moneyline and +33.5 (-105). The total is 58.5, with over 58.5 (-113) and under 58.5 (-113). Those prices require separate judgments about winning, margin and scoring.

Production comes with counterevidence

Tarleton gained 509 yards, including 363 passing yards, in its September 12 victory at McNeese. Tylan Hines scored on runs of 13 and 46 yards; Merrimack’s preview lists his season average at 8.5 yards per carry. That production gives the Texans a credible offensive foundation.

However, Tarleton also allowed 495 yards and needed a field goal as time expired to win 27-24. Holding McNeese scoreless in the fourth quarter helped secure the victory, but the overall performance supplies limited support for laying 33.5 points.

Merrimack’s 23-14 win over Maine offers a different picture. The Warriors allowed 199 total yards, including 53 rushing yards on 31 carries, and rushed for 211 yards themselves. Those numbers support some resistance, although one game against Maine cannot establish how well that defense will handle Tarleton.

The Warriors also scored touchdowns on a blocked punt and an interception return. Those contributions caution against treating their 23 points as a measure of offensive output or assuming similar scoring will recur.

Final betting decision

Pass. Tarleton’s production does not establish value at its moneyline or spread, while Merrimack’s latest performance is insufficient to endorse the underdog. The total also lacks a clear case: substantial yardage in Tarleton’s last game and non-offensive scoring in Merrimack’s leave too much uncertainty to recommend over or under 58.5. No winner or score projection accompanies this pass.
