Broncos at Chiefs: Injury questions leave Week 1 betting call a pass

Matchup and prices

The Denver Broncos visit the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, Sept. 14, for their 2026 NFL Week 1 matchup. Denver’s official report lists kickoff at 6:15 p.m. MT.

Kansas City is priced at -140 on the moneyline and -2.5 (-110) against the spread. Denver is +120 outright and +2.5 (-110). The total is 43.5, with over 43.5 (-110) and under 43.5 (-110). A three-point Chiefs victory would cover Kansas City’s spread.

Availability remains unsettled

Chiefs tackle Josh Simmons, dealing with a back injury, and defensive back Chamarri Conner, listed with a knee injury, missed Thursday and Friday practices. NBC Sports reported that Andy Reid considered Simmons likely to miss Monday’s game. Rookie Kahlil Benson would start at left tackle if Simmons cannot play.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones went from full participation Thursday to limited participation Friday with a calf issue. Patrick Mahomes, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy were listed as full participants Friday. Those participation reports do not establish final game availability.

Denver listed only Marvin Mims Jr., who has a foot issue. The Broncos designated him a full participant for Friday, but that designation was an estimate because Denver did not practice. It should not be read as evidence that he completed a Friday workout.

Betting decision

The injury reports identify situations to watch, but do not establish an advantage at these prices. They also provide no basis for attributing the spread to injuries or projecting scoring above or below 43.5.

Pass on the side and total. With no supported performance comparison or final availability picture, there is insufficient evidence to select a winner or projected score.
