Boise State will beat Texas State, with a projected score of Boise State 31, Texas State 24. The Broncos’ 258 rushing yards and 244 total yards allowed against Washington State give them the stronger recent two-way performance. However, Texas State’s rushing defense and offensive upside make Boise State -11.5 (-110) unappealing. Neither the spread nor the 64.5-point total offers a clear wager.

Texas State Bobcats vs Boise St. Broncos prediction and best bet

Boise State gets the winner pick, but the official betting recommendation is Pass. The Broncos beat Washington State 31-10 on Oct. 24, finishing with 407 total yards while allowing 244. Their rushing production supplies a concrete reason to favor them against Texas State, although repeating that success against a different opponent is the central question.

Texas State brings meaningful resistance. The Bobcats allowed Utah State only 73 rushing yards in a 20-17 victory, and their previous game produced 66 points against Colorado State. Those contrasting performances leave room for several outcomes. Boise State is the more persuasive winner; asking it to win by at least 12 points requires a stronger case.

Texas State Bobcats outlook

Texas State’s win over Utah State offered a useful example of winning without a large yardage total. The Bobcats gained 250 yards and allowed 285, but converted 10 of 18 third downs while holding Utah State to four conversions in 14 attempts. Sustaining possessions that way would help Texas State keep Boise State’s offense off the field. The challenge is reproducing those conversions against a new defense.

Brad Jackson completed 27 of 37 passes for 167 yards, adding 15 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. That combination shows how the Bobcats found enough offense to win, but the passing yardage also limits how much weight to put on the completion count. Against Boise State, Texas State would benefit from more yardage accompanying those completions.

The Colorado State result supplies the strongest reason to resist a comfortable Broncos cover prediction. Texas State won that game 66-27 with a school-record 716 yards. Its subsequent drop to 250 yards against Utah State makes either performance a risky standalone guide. Defensively, the 73 rushing yards allowed against Utah State offer encouragement for the upcoming matchup. They are a promising recent result, rather than a guarantee that Texas State can contain Riley.

Boise St. Broncos outlook

Boise State’s 31-10 victory over Washington State combined substantial rushing production with a strong defensive result. The Broncos gained 258 yards on the ground and allowed just 53. That combination is the foundation of the winner selection: if Boise State again generates productive rushing possessions while limiting the opponent’s ground game, Texas State will need more from its passing offense.

Dylan Riley rushed 13 times for 128 yards and two touchdowns. His production was heavily concentrated late, with 106 rushing yards coming in the fourth quarter. Boise State entered that quarter tied 10-10 before scoring three touchdowns. The finish supports the possibility of another decisive margin, but the tie also matters. The final score should not obscure how close the game remained before that surge.

Maddux Madsen contributed 149 passing yards, a touchdown pass and 34 rushing yards. Rasean Jones caught five passes for 69 yards, while Lopez Sanusi recorded two sacks. Those contributions give the forecast more substance than Riley’s performance alone. Still, these are results against Washington State. Texas State’s recent rushing defense and sharply different offensive outputs make a direct repeat uncertain. Boise State earns the edge without earning a confident double-digit margin.

Key matchup factors

The decisive question is whether Texas State can make Boise State earn its rushing yards consistently. A successful response would put more responsibility on Madsen’s passing and reduce the likelihood of the late separation seen against Washington State. If Riley finds comparable running room, the Broncos’ path to a comfortable win becomes much clearer.

Third downs are the other priority. Texas State’s conversions against Utah State helped compensate for modest total production, but depending on another 10-for-18 performance is a fragile route to an upset. Boise State’s forecast advantage rests on generating more offense before those pivotal downs. Texas State’s route to staying close rests on extending possessions and preventing another concentrated scoring burst.

Texas State Bobcats vs Boise St. Broncos spread prediction

Pass on Boise State -11.5 (-110) and Texas State +11.5 (-110). The projected seven-point margin favors the Bobcats relative to the spread, but that estimate is too uncertain to justify taking the points.

Boise State’s 21-point win over Washington State shows why laying 11.5 is tempting. Texas State’s recent run defense pushes back against that case, while its modest output against Utah State raises doubts about backing the underdog. Neither side offers enough separation between a plausible game script and a worthwhile wager at -110.

Texas State Bobcats vs Boise St. Broncos total prediction

Pass on Over 64.5 (-110) and Under 64.5 (-110). The projected 55 points favor a lower-scoring outcome, but a score forecast alone is insufficient reason to bet the Under.

Texas State’s last two games illustrate the uncertainty: it scored 66 against Colorado State and 20 against Utah State. Boise State’s three fourth-quarter touchdowns against Washington State also show how quickly late scoring can change a total. Both teams’ recent rushing-defense results support restraint in the projection, while the Bobcats’ offensive ceiling remains a substantial risk to an Under.

Texas State Bobcats vs Boise St. Broncos projected score

Game forecast: Boise State 31, Texas State 24. Boise State is the projected winner with low confidence. Its recent combination of rushing production and defensive efficiency offers the best reason to expect a win, with Riley’s finishing performance providing a plausible route to separation.

The strongest counterargument is Texas State’s ability to pair its recent run defense with a better offensive showing. The Colorado State game demonstrates a much higher scoring ceiling than the Utah State result suggests. That range makes the projected margin fragile and keeps both markets off the betting card. The single official SportsJaw recommendation is Pass, with separate passes on the 11.5-point spread and 64.5-point total.
