Penn St. Nittany Lions vs Washington Huskies Betting Picks & Predictions

Game time: November 7, 2026 at 3:30 PM ET

Venue: Husky Stadium — Seattle, WA

Article updated Nov 1, 9:16 AM EST

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Penn State will beat Washington, with a projected score of Penn State 23, Washington 20. The Nittany Lions’ balanced rushing production and control of possession against Purdue give them the stronger recent foundation, although Washington’s passing threats make this a low-confidence forecast. Neither Penn State -1.5 (-105) nor the 44.5 total offers a convincing betting edge; the official recommendation is Pass.

Penn St. Nittany Lions vs Washington Huskies prediction and best bet

Penn State gets the pick because its latest victory offered more than a decisive finish. Against Purdue on Oct. 31, the Nittany Lions built a 457-175 advantage in total yards and controlled possession for 43:27. That combination supplies a plausible route to winning at Washington: sustain drives and make the Huskies maximize fewer opportunities.

Washington supplies the strongest objection. Chris Lawson caught 12 passes for 155 yards at Nebraska, and Demond Williams Jr. returned to deliver a late touchdown. Penn State must handle that receiving threat while repeating its own offensive execution against a different opponent. The forecast is Penn State 23, Washington 20, with low confidence. The best betting decision is Pass.

Penn St. Nittany Lions outlook

Penn State’s 31-17 victory over Purdue on Oct. 31 delivered its first conference win. Cam Wallace rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown, while Carson Hansen contributed 96 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Together, they gave the offense two productive options within a rushing attack that finished with 269 yards at 5.3 yards per carry.

Rocco Becht complemented that production by completing 16 of 24 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown without a turnover. He also rushed for 27 yards and a touchdown. For this forecast, the useful combination is rushing volume with controlled quarterback play. Penn State can lean on that approach without needing to assume a dramatic increase in passing production.

The defense limited Purdue to 33 rushing yards and intercepted Ryan Browne twice. Its first conference-game sack of the season also arrived that day, a reminder to temper expectations for pressure against Washington. One strong result leaves questions about repeatability.

Receivers Chase Sowell and Koby Howard missed the Purdue game. StateCollege.com reported an expectation that they would return the following week, but that was not confirmation of their Nov. 7 availability. The projection therefore gives Penn State no assumed boost from their return.

Washington Huskies outlook

Washington’s 17-10 win at Nebraska on Oct. 31 featured a consequential quarterback return. Elijah Brown started because Williams had been sidelined after suffering a fractured rib against Iowa on Oct. 9. Brown completed 19 of 30 passes for 136 yards before Williams appeared in the fourth quarter.

Williams completed seven of 13 attempts for 99 yards and carried four times for a team-high 28 rushing yards. His 25-yard touchdown pass to Lawson with 1:30 remaining supplied the decisive offensive play. That contribution matters to this matchup, but his late appearance leaves uncertainty about his prospective workload. It would be premature to build the forecast around a confirmed full-game role.

Lawson’s 12 catches and 155 yards give Washington its clearest individual offensive argument. Penn State must account for a receiver who produced substantial yardage in a game the Huskies won by seven points. Washington’s passing attack is the principal threat to a Penn State possession-based approach.

Alex McLaughlin added a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown with 1:15 left. That score helped secure the result, but another defensive touchdown would be a speculative ingredient for this prediction. Washington’s offensive outlook deserves to be evaluated separately from that late defensive contribution.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether Penn State can turn its rushing production into sustained drives again. Successful possessions would reduce Washington’s opportunities and help Penn State manage a close game. The Purdue performance supports that possibility; it does not tell us how Washington will defend Wallace and Hansen.

Quarterback usage is the other major variable. Williams showed he could contribute after his absence, while Brown handled the starting assignment at Nebraska. Their roles against Penn State remain uncertain. Lawson’s production makes Washington dangerous through the air regardless of how those snaps are allocated. The forecast favors Penn State’s more complete recent performance, with Washington’s passing upside keeping the margin small.

Penn St. Nittany Lions vs Washington Huskies spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Penn State -1.5 (-105) and Washington +1.5 (-115). The projected three-point Penn State victory would cover its supplied spread, but the difference between that forecast and the line is too small for this fragile lean.

Penn State’s advantage rests heavily on one performance against Purdue. Washington counters with Lawson’s receiving production and Williams’ encouraging return, while his expected workload remains uncertain. Receiving 1.5 points is not enough to make Washington attractive simply because the forecast is close. Neither side earns an official wager.

Penn St. Nittany Lions vs Washington Huskies total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 44.5 (-106) and Under 44.5 (-116). Penn State 23, Washington 20 produces 43 combined points, a small lean below the total rather than a persuasive Under bet.

Penn State’s lengthy possession time against Purdue suggests a route to fewer scoring opportunities. Washington’s recent game also finished with 27 points, but its defensive touchdown shows how quickly scoring can depart from offensive rhythm. Neither result supplies a reliable pace or scoring expectation for this matchup. Paying -116 for Under 44.5 asks too much of the narrow projected cushion.

Penn St. Nittany Lions vs Washington Huskies Projected Score & Betting Picks

Game forecast: Penn State 23, Washington 20. Wallace and Hansen’s rushing production, supported by Becht’s efficient outing, gives Penn State the preferred route to a narrow victory. The prediction assumes that approach carries enough of its effectiveness into the next game, without projecting another overwhelming possession advantage.

Washington’s strongest counterargument is Lawson’s receiving performance alongside Williams’ late contribution at Nebraska. If those passing opportunities become sustained scoring drives, the Huskies can overturn this forecast. That possibility, combined with the limited recent sample and quarterback uncertainty, keeps confidence low. Penn State is the projected winner, both the spread and total are Pass, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
