Miami-OH RedHawks vs Central Michigan Chippewas Predictions October 24, 2026

Game time: October 24, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Venue: Kelly/Shorts Stadium — Mount Pleasant, MI

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

Miami-OH will beat Central Michigan 23-20 in our forecast for October 24, with the RedHawks’ rushing defense supplying the strongest matchup advantage. Their recent ground production also favors Miami, but Central Michigan’s personnel uncertainty makes the margin harder to judge. Neither Miami-OH -2.5 (-110) nor the 40.5 total offers a strong enough edge for an actionable wager. The official recommendation is Pass.

Miami-OH RedHawks vs Central Michigan Chippewas prediction and best bet

Miami’s advantage starts with a defense allowing 99.3 rushing yards per game, ranked 22nd nationally entering this matchup. Pair that with an experienced offensive line and the RedHawks have a credible route to winning: sustain their own running game and force Central Michigan to find another way forward.

The forecast favors Miami, but the best betting decision is Pass. A narrow road victory fits the evidence better than the original double-digit projection. Central Michigan’s late comeback against Western Michigan and the unresolved implications of its recent personnel problems leave too much uncertainty to confidently price the winning margin.

Miami-OH RedHawks outlook

Miami beat Akron 34-14 on October 17, rushing for 324 yards and intercepting four passes. Rodney Nelson delivered a season-best 142 rushing yards with two touchdowns. That performance gives the RedHawks an encouraging offensive starting point, although another four-interception game should not be built into the prediction.

The offensive line supplies experience beyond that single result. Returning starters Kris Manu, Eric Smith, Greg Smith Jr. and Jacob Schorsch have 75 combined career starts. Evan Malcore contributes 32 previous starts at Northern Illinois and seven Miami starts in 2026, bringing the five players’ combined total to 114.

Miami’s recent defensive work strengthens the case. Bowling Green, Massachusetts and Akron combined for 208 rushing yards on 85 carries against the RedHawks, a reported 2.5 yards per carry. Those three games reinforce the season rushing-defense ranking, though they do not guarantee the same result against Central Michigan.

Central Michigan Chippewas outlook

Central Michigan lost 21-14 to Western Michigan on October 17 after entering the fourth quarter down 21-0. Two late touchdowns and an onside-kick recovery created a final-play opportunity to tie or win. The finish is a meaningful counterweight to the poor opening three quarters.

Quarterback Angel Flores exited after converting a fourth-and-2 run. Coach Matt Drinkall said afterward that Flores had been removed under the program’s precautionary head-injury protocol and that the longer-term outlook was unknown at that point. Jadyn Glasser entered and scored on a 2-yard run with 44 seconds remaining. Neither player should be treated as a confirmed starter here.

Running back Jayden Clerveaux, receiver Shawn Foster and three starting defensive linemen missed that game. Center Losini Maka broke his right thumb but continued playing while snapping left-handed. Those are documented concerns from October 17, not confirmed absences or limitations for October 24.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether Miami can make Central Michigan depend more heavily on its passing game. The RedHawks’ rushing defense makes that a plausible scenario, but quarterback uncertainty alone is not proof that the Chippewas will struggle to score.

Central Michigan’s defensive-line availability could also change the matchup substantially. Further absences would make Miami’s ground attack more appealing; returning starters could make the contest more competitive up front. The forecast should not assume either outcome.

Turnovers offer another source of volatility. Miami’s four interceptions against Akron helped produce a comfortable win. Projecting a closer game here avoids treating that takeaway total as a repeatable weekly advantage.

Miami-OH RedHawks vs Central Michigan Chippewas spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Miami-OH -2.5 (-110) and Central Michigan +2.5 (-106). Miami is the preferred winner, but the projected three-point margin clears the favorite’s spread by only half a point.

That is too thin a cushion for a wager with this much uncertainty around Central Michigan’s lineup. Miami’s recent results explain the winner selection; they do not make the distinction between a close win and a cover reliable enough. Taking the home underdog would require a stronger case as well.

Miami-OH RedHawks vs Central Michigan Chippewas total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 40.5 (-114) and Under 40.5 (-106). The projected 43 points lean above the line, but that small difference is not sufficient betting value.

Miami’s rushing defense favors a restrained Central Michigan scoring outlook. Conversely, Miami just scored 34 points, and the Chippewas demonstrated late scoring potential against Western Michigan. Neither result settles this total. The cheaper Under price also does not make Under the better selection by itself.

Miami-OH RedHawks vs Central Michigan Chippewas projected score

Game forecast: Miami-OH 23, Central Michigan 20. The RedHawks’ rushing defense and experienced offensive line give them the edge. Central Michigan’s fourth-quarter response last week is the strongest counterargument, especially if its personnel outlook improves.

Confidence is low because the predicted advantage is modest and the Chippewas’ lineup remains a material variable. Miami is the winner selection, both betting markets are passes, and the single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
