Nevada Wolfpack vs UCLA Bruins Predictions October 31, 2026

Game time: October 31, 2026 at 4:15 PM ET

Venue: Rose Bowl — Pasadena, CA

Article updated Oct 26, 12:03 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

UCLA will beat Nevada 31-13, with its run defense providing the strongest matchup advantage against the Wolf Pack's rushing attack. The Bruins also bring a substantial turnover-margin advantage into this Oct. 31 game. Neither supplied price earns an actionable recommendation: Nevada +22.5 has appeal, but meaningful risks remain, while a projected 44-point finish leaves too little cushion beneath 44.5.

Nevada Wolfpack vs UCLA Bruins prediction and best bet

UCLA's advantage starts with its ability to challenge Nevada's most productive offensive avenue. The Wolf Pack average 181.6 rushing yards per game; the Bruins allow 90.4. Making Nevada work through its passing game would put UCLA in position to dictate how drives develop. The Bruins also average 233.0 rushing yards against a defense allowing 167.3.

The forecast is UCLA 31, Nevada 13, with medium confidence. The official betting recommendation is Pass. UCLA has the stronger case to win, but covering 22.5 requires considerably more. The total demands a separate judgment: defensive strengths favor restraint, while UCLA's scoring production and takeaways threaten an Under priced at -115.

Nevada Wolfpack outlook

Nevada's 28-13 victory over San José State on Oct. 24 offers a practical route to staying competitive. The Wolf Pack held possession for 38:18, collected 19 first downs and converted 9 of 18 third downs. Sustaining possessions again would help keep UCLA's offense off the field, although repeating that performance against this defense is a demanding assignment.

Luke Duncan completed 18 of 29 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns in his second start of the season. Dominic Kelley contributed 82 rushing yards and a touchdown. Marshaun Brown caught five passes for 52 yards and a score and added a 32-yard touchdown pass. Those contributions gave Nevada several ways to finish possessions in that game.

The defense held San José State to 204 total yards, including 65 rushing yards. Dylan LaBarbera recorded two sacks and three tackles for loss, and Nevada broke up a season-high 10 passes. That performance gives the underdog a credible defensive counterargument. Still, its season allowance of 167.3 rushing yards is a concern against UCLA. Nevada averages 26.3 points and 358.9 yards, but its minus-9 turnover margin is the clearest threat to keeping this matchup close.

UCLA Bruins outlook

UCLA enters after beating Michigan State 28-10 on Oct. 24. Its running game supplied 245 yards on 48 attempts, with Anthony Woods gaining 112 yards on 14 carries. Woods, Wayne Knight and Jaivian Thomas each scored a rushing touchdown. That production reinforces the appeal of attacking Nevada on the ground rather than asking the passing game to carry the result.

Ty Dieffenbach completed 18 of 31 passes for 198 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions against Michigan State. Semaj Morgan caught seven passes for 70 yards. UCLA averages 445.4 total yards and 34.4 points per game, giving it a stronger scoring baseline than Nevada.

The defense was equally persuasive against Michigan State, allowing a season-low 156 yards while recording four sacks, six tackles for loss and three takeaways. Sammy Omosigho contributed six tackles, 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery. UCLA had produced at least three takeaways in five of its seven games through Oct. 24. Its season defensive averages are 272.9 yards and 15.3 points allowed. Penalties remain a meaningful weakness: the Bruins average 79.9 penalty yards per game, which could interrupt their own drives or help Nevada extend possessions.

Key matchup factors

Third downs could determine whether Nevada can repeat its possession success. UCLA allows a 25.0% conversion rate, third in FBS, while Nevada allows 29.2%, ninth. Those figures favor defensive stops on both sides, but UCLA's rushing matchup gives it the better route to manageable conversion attempts.

Turnovers create the biggest threat to a close game or low total. UCLA's plus-11 margin contrasts sharply with Nevada's minus-9. Extra possessions could widen the margin without requiring long scoring drives. The Oct. 26 SportsJaw blended consensus favors Over 44.5 (-106) at 67%. Its modeled equivalent sample contains 600 selections, including 402 Over selections; those are not observed sportsbook tickets or a win probability.

Nevada Wolfpack vs UCLA Bruins spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Nevada +22.5 (-111) and UCLA -22.5 (-108). The projected 18-point margin favors Nevada relative to the line, and its recent defensive performance offers a plausible path to covering. UCLA's penalty burden adds another concern for anyone laying the points.

The opposing case is substantial. UCLA can attack Nevada's weaker rushing allowance, and the turnover contrast makes a large margin plausible. One strong possession game against San José State is insufficient reason to trust Nevada to control this matchup. The forecast favors an underdog cover, but the price does not earn a wager.

Nevada Wolfpack vs UCLA Bruins total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 44.5 (-106) and Under 44.5 (-115). UCLA 31, Nevada 13 produces 44 points, just half a point below the line. That narrow difference is too fragile to make Under the official selection.

UCLA's defense and both teams' third-down resistance support the lower-scoring case. The counterweight is UCLA's 34.4-point scoring average and its ability to generate takeaways. Short fields could offset any reduction in possessions. Nevada's recent possession success offers an Under argument, but it is not a reliable forecast of this game's pace.

Nevada Wolfpack vs UCLA Bruins projected score

Game forecast: UCLA Bruins 31, Nevada Wolfpack 13. UCLA's combination of rushing production, run defense and takeaway success makes it the likely winner. The projection asks Nevada to score below its season average because its ground attack faces a particularly difficult matchup.

Nevada's strongest counterargument is its complete performance against San José State, especially its defensive work and sustained possessions. UCLA's penalties could also make the game closer than its overall advantages suggest. Those considerations keep confidence at medium and discourage laying 22.5. With the projected total almost touching 44.5, neither market offers enough separation to justify an official wager. SportsJaw's single betting recommendation is Pass.
