Florida St. Seminoles vs Louisville Cardinals Predictions October 9, 2026

Game time: October 9, 2026 at 7:00 PM ET

Venue: L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium — Louisville, KY

Florida State will beat Louisville 31-30 in the Oct. 9 matchup, with Ashton Daniels’ running and passing production giving the Seminoles a narrow edge against a defense coming off big-play problems. Florida State +3.5 (-110) is the best bet because it also covers a three-point loss. The outright forecast carries low confidence, and the total of 59.5 is a Pass.

Florida St. Seminoles vs Louisville Cardinals prediction and best bet

Take Florida State +3.5 (-110), with the Seminoles projected to win a close game. Daniels offers the strongest matchup reason: his production on the ground gives Louisville another threat to contain after the Cardinals’ own recap identified big plays allowed as a problem in their loss at NC State.

This is a modest edge. Florida State’s convincing win over Virginia supplies an encouraging recent performance, but Louisville generated substantial offense in defeat. The points make the spread more attractive than relying on an outright upset. A narrow Cardinals victory remains a realistic outcome, and Florida State can lose by three while still covering.

Florida St. Seminoles outlook

Florida State beat Virginia 38-7 on Oct. 3 after scoring the game’s final 38 points. The Seminoles gained 464 yards and allowed 205, with a 281-37 advantage in rushing yards. That result gives the forecast a defensive foundation as well as an offensive one, although one dominant afternoon should not become an expectation for every opponent.

Daniels rushed for 136 yards and five touchdowns while completing 12 of 19 passes for 183 yards. Through that game, Florida State reported that he ranked third nationally in both rushing touchdowns, with nine, and passing yards per completion, at 15.89. Those figures describe a quarterback whose contribution extends beyond keeping the passing game moving.

Daniels and left guard André Otto received ACC weekly honors, announced Oct. 5. The team’s 281 rushing yards against Virginia were a season high. The question here is how much of that rushing success travels to Louisville; the forecast needs a productive ground game, not another five-touchdown rushing performance from Daniels.

Louisville Cardinals outlook

Louisville’s 31-28 loss at NC State on Oct. 3 included 485 yards of offense and 231 rushing yards. Lincoln Kienholz completed 21 of 30 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns. That production is the main reason to resist treating Florida State’s previous defensive result as a guide to an easy win.

Tre Richardson caught eight passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. Isaac Brown added 125 rushing yards on nine carries, including a 70-yard touchdown. Louisville demonstrated both a productive receiving connection and the ability to turn a rushing attempt into a long score.

The Cardinals’ recap pointed to costly offensive turnovers and too many big plays surrendered on defense. Those were problems in that particular loss, not proof that Louisville will repeat them Friday. If the Cardinals protect their possessions and make Florida State sustain drives, their offensive output at NC State offers a credible route to victory.

Key matchup factors

The central tactical question is how Louisville handles Daniels without giving Florida State favorable opportunities elsewhere. His rushing threat can force difficult defensive choices. The passing numbers strengthen that concern, but they do not guarantee explosive completions against this opponent.

Possession quality matters just as much. Louisville showed it could gain yards at NC State and still lose. Florida State’s forecasted advantage depends partly on the Cardinals leaving opportunities unused again, which is one reason the outright pick remains fragile.

As of Oct. 6 at 11:59:55 UTC, the combined consensus favored Florida State +3.5 (-110) at 78 percent. Its modeled equivalent was 468 Florida State selections against 132 Louisville selections out of 600. Those are modeled consensus counts, not observed sportsbook tickets or individual SportsJaw member picks. Spread support moved nine percentage points toward Louisville from the Oct. 5 snapshot.

Florida St. Seminoles vs Louisville Cardinals spread prediction

The spread recommendation is Florida State +3.5 (-110). Daniels’ versatility and Florida State’s recent defensive performance make a competitive game a reasonable expectation. Getting more than a field goal offers useful protection against Louisville turning its offensive potential into a narrow win.

The opposing case deserves weight: Louisville is the -175 moneyline favorite, and the combined moneyline consensus favors the Cardinals at 63 percent. Neither figure is a forecast confidence rating. The spread selection rests on the matchup and the three-point-loss cushion, with consensus serving as context rather than proof of value.

Florida St. Seminoles vs Louisville Cardinals total prediction

Pass on Over 59.5 (-110) and Under 59.5 (-110). Florida State’s scoring against Virginia and Louisville’s offensive production at NC State give the Over a plausible case. Florida State’s defensive showing supplies a reason for caution.

The combined total consensus favors Over 59.5 (-110) at 80 percent, up 30 percentage points toward the Over from the previous snapshot. That measures selection preference, not the probability of reaching 60 points. The projected 61-point finish sits only 1.5 points above the line, too small a margin for a total recommendation given the uncertainty.

Florida St. Seminoles vs Louisville Cardinals projected score

Game forecast: Florida State 31, Louisville 30. Daniels’ ability to contribute through the air and on the ground supplies the narrow deciding edge. Louisville’s productive offense is the strongest counterargument, particularly if the Cardinals avoid the costly mistakes identified in their last game.

Confidence is low because the clearest performance evidence comes from games against different opponents, and Louisville has a convincing path to winning. The single official SportsJaw wager is Florida State +3.5 (-110). The total of 59.5 is a Pass.
