Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets Predictions October 25, 2026

Game time: October 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Venue: MetLife Stadium — East Rutherford, NJ

Article updated Oct 19, 12:38 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

The New York Jets will beat the Miami Dolphins, 23-17, in their Oct. 25, 2026 NFL matchup. Geno Smith and Omar Cooper Jr.’s recent passing production gives New York the strongest reason for the pick, while Miami’s rushing attack makes the forecast fragile. Neither Jets -5.5 (-110) nor Over 39.5 (-110) offers enough projected separation for an actionable wager. The official recommendation is Pass.

Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets prediction and best bet

New York gets the pick because its recent passing performance offers a plausible route around Miami’s demonstrated resistance to the run. That is an editorial judgment, not proof of a favorable matchup against the Dolphins’ pass defense. Smith and Cooper give the Jets a credible foundation, but the evidence favors a cautious forecast.

The best betting decision is Pass. A six-point projected win would cover New York -5.5 (-110), but only by half a point. The projected 40 points also clear 39.5 by just half a point. Neither margin is persuasive enough to turn this low-confidence prediction into an official wager.

Miami Dolphins outlook

Miami’s strongest case starts on the ground. The Dolphins rushed for 217 yards against Cincinnati and totaled 457 rushing yards over the three-game stretch ending with that contest. Ollie Gordon II contributed 88 yards on 18 carries against the Bengals and scored for a third consecutive game. Through Oct. 11, he had 229 rushing yards on 44 attempts, averaging 5.2 yards.

Malik Willis added 74 rushing yards and a touchdown against Cincinnati, bringing his season rushing total to 186 yards at that point. Those contributions matter after De’Von Achane’s season-ending injury on the opening drive of Miami’s Week 3 game against Kansas City. Gordon and Willis offer two demonstrated sources of rushing production in his absence.

Miami also held each of its first five opponents below four yards per carry, including Cincinnati’s 117 yards on 31 attempts. That defensive strength deserves weight, although the Bengals still scored 31 points. Miami trailed 28-10 late in the third quarter, so its productive rushing afternoon should not be mistaken for control of that game.

New York Jets outlook

Smith completed 20 of 30 passes for 252 yards, one touchdown and one interception against New England on Oct. 18. Cooper caught six passes for 103 yards and a touchdown, reaching 100 receiving yards for the first time in his NFL career. Their production is the main reason to favor New York, although one outing offers a limited measure of consistency.

Braelon Allen supplied 78 rushing yards on 17 carries and another 26 yards on two catches. New York generated two takeaways but failed on fourth-and-2 and fourth-and-1 in the second half. Those missed conversions are a meaningful caution when considering a favorite that must win by at least six points to cover.

The Oct. 18 injury update listed linebacker Francisco Mauigoa as questionable for Miami with a thigh injury. Breece Hall, Adonai Mitchell, Dylan Parham and Joseph Ossai were inactive against New England with quadriceps, finger, knee and ankle injuries, respectively. Those prior-game absences are not confirmed absences for this matchup.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether New York can turn passing production into a lead that changes Miami’s preferred approach. Successful Dolphins rushing possessions could limit the Jets’ opportunities, but that scenario depends on Miami staying close. Its Cincinnati performance shows that substantial rushing yardage can coexist with a large deficit.

The Oct. 19 consensus update has New York -5.5 (-110) at 78%, up three percentage points from Oct. 18. The combined consensus count is 468 New York selections to 132 Miami selections, incorporating a modeled sportsbook sample and SportsJaw participation. These are not observed sportsbook ticket totals or a standalone member vote.

New York also leads the moneyline consensus at 64%. Those selection shares describe betting sentiment, not the Jets’ chance of winning or this forecast’s confidence. The total is evenly divided, with 300 modeled equivalent selections on each side.

Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on New York Jets -5.5 (-110) and Miami Dolphins +5.5 (-110). The forecast narrowly favors a Jets cover, but a single point changes the outcome against this spread.

Miami’s rushing production supplies a credible reason to expect a competitive game. New York’s passing performance supplies a reason to prefer the favorite outright. Neither argument creates enough separation at 5.5, and the strong consensus backing for New York does not make that price more attractive.

Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 39.5 (-110) and Under 39.5 (-110). The 40-point forecast has a slight numerical tilt toward the Over, with too little room to justify a bet.

Miami’s running game could consume time, while Smith’s passing production offers a route to scoring without sustained rushing success. Miami’s run defense alone is not a reason to expect a low total. The evenly split total consensus adds no directional preference, leaving both sides as passes.

Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets projected score

Game forecast: New York Jets 23, Miami Dolphins 17. Confidence is low. Smith and Cooper’s recent production earns New York the selection; Miami’s rushing attack and early-season run defense are the strongest counterarguments.

The projected margin and total each sit only half a point beyond the supplied betting lines. That makes the forecast useful as a view of the game, but too fragile for a wager. The single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
