North Dakota St. Bison vs New Mexico Lobos Predictions October 24, 2026

Game time: October 24, 2026 at 10:00 PM ET

Venue: University Stadium (NM) — Albuquerque, NM

New Mexico will beat North Dakota St., with a projected score of Lobos 23, Bison 20, in their Oct. 24 matchup. New Mexico's repeated rushing success and sustained scoring defense give it the edge, though North Dakota St.'s recent offensive production makes this a close call. Neither New Mexico -4.5 (-105) nor the total of 42.5 offers a convincing wager. The official recommendation is Pass.

North Dakota St. Bison vs New Mexico Lobos prediction and best bet

New Mexico gets the pick because its strongest results extend beyond one Saturday. The Lobos have surpassed 200 rushing yards in five of six games this season and held opponents to 20 points or fewer in 10 straight games dating to last season. That combination favors their chances of winning a competitive game.

The best betting decision is Pass. North Dakota St. just scored 31 points against Nevada, and New Mexico needed a second-half comeback at Hawai'i. The Lobos have the stronger case to win, but asking them to cover -4.5 (-105) requires more separation than this forecast projects.

North Dakota St. Bison outlook

The Bison beat Nevada 31-17 in Fargo on Oct. 17 after falling behind 11-0. Their 19-point second quarter reversed the game, and the victory secured bowl eligibility in their first FBS season. That comeback is a useful reminder that an early New Mexico lead would not settle this matchup.

Nathan Hayes completed 19 of 25 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns against Nevada, adding a 5-yard rushing touchdown. His completion rate was encouraging, although that performance alone is not a guarantee of similar efficiency against the Lobos.

Jackson Williams contributed 251 all-purpose yards, including a team-high five catches for 58 yards. On defense, Marion Moore intercepted two passes and Donovan Woolen led the team with seven tackles. Those contributions give the Bison a plausible route to an upset through production in multiple phases.

New Mexico Lobos outlook

New Mexico overturned a 10-0 halftime deficit to win 21-10 at Hawai'i on Oct. 17. Scottre Humphrey rushed for 90 yards and scored twice as the Lobos finished with 243 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. They possessed the ball for 19:50 after halftime.

The defensive performance also fit a recurring pattern. New Mexico recorded 11 tackles for loss, its fourth game reaching at least that mark in six outings. Darren Agu supplied a career-high 3.5 tackles for loss, while Tavian Combs collected his fourth interception of the season.

The Lobos have generated at least two takeaways in every 2026 game through Oct. 17. That consistency strengthens their outlook, but the scoreless first half in Honolulu is a reason to temper expectations for an easy victory.

Key matchup factors

The central question is whether New Mexico can turn rushing production into sustained possession again. Its second half against Hawai'i illustrates that possibility. Projecting the same control against North Dakota St., however, remains a matchup judgment rather than a proven advantage against this particular defense.

Turnovers could pull the game in either direction. New Mexico has the repeated takeaway production, while Moore's latest performance shows the Bison can create opportunities of their own. Extra possessions could decide the winner, but short fields could also push scoring above a modest total.

North Dakota St. Bison vs New Mexico Lobos spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on New Mexico -4.5 (-105) and North Dakota St. +4.5 (-115). The projected three-point margin falls inside the Bison's spread, but that small difference is too fragile to justify paying -115.

New Mexico's defensive consistency makes laying the points tempting. North Dakota St.'s recent comeback and touchdown production keep the underdog competitive in this forecast. Picking the Lobos to win is clearer than selecting either side against this number.

North Dakota St. Bison vs New Mexico Lobos total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 42.5 (-107) and Under 42.5 (-113). The projected 43 points sit almost directly on the line. New Mexico's scoring defense favors restraint, while North Dakota St.'s 31-point outing supplies a meaningful counterweight.

A productive running game can consume clock, but it can also finish drives with touchdowns. Likewise, defensive takeaways can stop scoring threats or create easy scoring chances. Those competing effects make the Under less compelling than New Mexico's defensive streak initially suggests.

North Dakota St. Bison vs New Mexico Lobos projected score

Game forecast: New Mexico Lobos 23, North Dakota St. Bison 20. The Lobos' sustained rushing production and defensive results earn the winning pick. The strongest counterargument is a Bison team coming off an efficient passing performance and a two-interception game from Moore.

Confidence is low because the projected margin is narrow and neither team's latest comeback suggests a straightforward matchup. Both the spread and total recommendations are Pass. The single official SportsJaw betting lean is Pass.
