Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Predictions October 4, 2026

Game time: October 4, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Venue: Raymond James Stadium — Tampa, FL

Article updated Oct 2, 2:24 AM EDT

By SportsJaw Editorial Team

The Green Bay Packers will beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 20-17, with Jordan Love’s passing production providing the strongest advantage against a team starting rookie Jalon Daniels. Green Bay’s defensive problems make this a low-confidence forecast, however. Neither Packers -3.5 (-108) nor the total of 38.5 (-110) offers a convincing betting edge. The official recommendation is Pass.

Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers prediction and best bet

Green Bay gets the pick because its passing attack has delivered production that Tampa Bay must now seek from a debuting quarterback. Love has 844 passing yards through three games. Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Tucker Kraft have combined for 643 receiving yards and five touchdowns. That gives the Packers a plausible way to attack a Buccaneers team whose official reporting identifies big plays as a problem.

The best betting decision is Pass. Green Bay just surrendered 498 yards to Atlanta, and Tampa Bay ranks sixth in yards allowed. Those concerns narrow the forecast to Packers 20, Buccaneers 17, leaving too little separation to back Green Bay -3.5 (-108).

Odds, game time and how to watch

Kickoff: Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 1 p.m. ET, NFL Week 4.

Venue: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida. Television: FOX.

Forecast: Partly sunny, very humid, high of 91°F, feels like 103°F, 59% rain chance, ESE winds.

Records: Green Bay 1-2; Tampa Bay 0-3. Expected quarterbacks: Jordan Love and Jalon Daniels.

SportsJaw odds: Green Bay moneyline -185, Tampa Bay +160. Spread: Packers -3.5 (-108), Buccaneers +3.5 (-110). Total: Over 38.5 (-110), Under 38.5 (-110).

Green Bay Packers outlook

The Packers’ passing production is the foundation of this forecast. Love’s 844 yards through three games and the combined output of Watson, Golden and Kraft give Green Bay multiple receiving options to test Tampa Bay. Against a defense ranked sixth in yards allowed but 23rd in points allowed, the opportunity is to turn productive possessions into touchdowns. Yardage alone will not settle the matchup.

Green Bay’s Week 3 performance supplies a substantial warning. Atlanta won 35-14 at Green Bay, rushing for 242 yards and finishing with 498 total yards. Tampa Bay has reason to test that run defense before asking Daniels to carry its offense. A repeat of those defensive struggles could erase the Packers’ projected advantage at quarterback.

Wednesday’s injury report adds uncertainty on both lines. Guard Aaron Banks missed practice with knee and toe injuries, while defensive tackle Anthony Campbell was absent because of an ankle injury. Edgerrin Cooper was limited with shoulder and concussion issues, and Lukas Van Ness was limited with a shoulder injury. These were practice designations, not final game statuses. Their availability matters to Green Bay’s ability to protect Love and contain the run.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers outlook

Tampa Bay’s quarterback change is the central issue. Baker Mayfield suffered a dislocated right thumb during the 23-16 Week 3 home loss to Minnesota and is expected to miss at least three games. The Buccaneers say Daniels will make his NFL starting debut against Green Bay. He will also become the first undrafted rookie quarterback to start for the franchise.

A productive running game would ease that assignment. Bucky Irving leads Tampa Bay with 180 rushing yards, making him a logical focal point against a defense Atlanta just hurt on the ground. Irving was limited Wednesday with a glute injury, however. Receiver Chris Godwin Jr. missed practice with an ankle injury. Emeka Egbuka has 141 receiving yards, but projecting how the passing offense functions with Daniels requires caution.

The defensive picture is mixed. Tampa Bay’s sixth-place yardage ranking gives the underdog a credible strength, while its 23rd-place points ranking shows the limits of that success. Outside linebackers Rueben Bain Jr. and Yaya Diaby also missed Wednesday practice. Bain had groin and shoulder issues; Diaby had calf and shoulder issues. Their status matters against Green Bay’s passing attack, without making either player a confirmed absence.

Key matchup factors

Explosive scores could upset either team’s preferred approach. Minnesota’s touchdowns against Tampa Bay included an 86-yard punt return and a 41-yard reception. The return belongs to special teams, so treating both scores as failures by the Buccaneers’ defense would exaggerate the case against that unit.

The spread consensus also cuts against an easy Packers cover. As of October 2 at 06:15 UTC, Tampa Bay led the combined consensus at 53%, equivalent to 321 of 605 modeled combined selections. Those are not observed sportsbook ticket counts. SportsJaw members and qualified handicappers each favored Tampa Bay at 80%, while the separate sportsbook split favored Green Bay at 54%. None of those shares is a win probability.

Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers spread prediction

Spread recommendation: Pass on Green Bay -3.5 (-108) and Tampa Bay +3.5 (-110). The Packers’ passing production favors an outright win, but laying more than a field goal asks for a margin that their recent defensive performance makes difficult to trust.

The 20-17 forecast would put Tampa Bay inside the spread. That makes the Buccaneers worth considering, but a projected three-point margin offers little cushion against 3.5. Daniels’ debut and Tampa Bay’s injury questions keep that narrow forecast from becoming an actionable underdog wager. Consensus support does not change that assessment.

Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers total prediction

Total recommendation: Pass on Over 38.5 (-110) and Under 38.5 (-110). The projected 37 points lean below the line, but a 1.5-point difference is fragile. Daniels’ first start and Tampa Bay’s yardage defense favor restraint; Green Bay’s defensive breakdown and Tampa Bay’s recent explosive scores point toward greater scoring risk.

The combined total consensus favors Over at 74%, compared with 68% in the sportsbook split and 100% among SportsJaw members. Those measure selection preference, not scoring probability. The forecast heat and rain chance add uncertainty without supplying a reliable Under argument.

Green Bay Packers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers projected score

Game forecast: Green Bay Packers 20, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17. Love’s production and the receiving group’s contribution give Green Bay the stronger offensive case while Tampa Bay adjusts to Daniels. The projection assumes that advantage produces a narrow win, rather than a decisive separation.

The strongest counterargument is Tampa Bay’s opportunity to run against a defense that allowed Atlanta 242 rushing yards. Pair that with the Buccaneers’ sixth-ranked yardage defense, and a home win remains credible. Confidence is low because those weaknesses directly challenge the Packers’ path to victory. Both the spread and total recommendations are Pass, and Pass is the single official SportsJaw betting lean.
